TIME AND THE SIMPLE LIFE OF THE LABORER:

August 29, 2013

THE LESS YOU KNOW THE BETTER YOU FEEL (AS LONG AS I GET MY MONEY BY NEXT FRIDAY)

THE PRICE TO BE PAID FOR A SENSE OF CONTROL

These are the very terms of the Covenant; but all the Yahwehs of all of human history come to you as a result of idleness.

And it was agriculture that brought, for the first time, idleness as the base of human vital context-of culture-itself.

And agriculture brings, in fact Yahweh-contractual religion itself-as a solution to the very problem of idleness, given that you no longer need to live physiologically strapped to the agony of life as the unceasing activity of the procurement of food.

And it is no accident that religion as systemic, contractual belief-as of agriculture-founds itself on a morality of toil as the proper vital mode of man.

No accident that sloth is to be considered a sin, because idleness leads to frustration- leads to the channeling of human vitality into collective modes of being that are more difficult to control-or manage.

Like more of a wanton, unrestrained sexuality, and ultimately, violence.

And while it is true that animals, wheat and fruit are not going to line up of their own accord to be eaten by people who are simply waiting to be fed, it is also undeniable from the standpoint of logical analysis as anthropology that toil as vital myth was grossly exaggerated-taken to the sublime-as a life-binding form of narrative as vital propaganda, its purpose being, ultimately, order based in the end (and at the start) on a sense of control at the heart of the psychology of the individual.

And psychological control becomes social and cultural control, much like a teether passivies the infant child.

And its corollary becomes quite clear as well: the less of a need you have to think and wonder at things, the better, ultimately, you feel and the easier it is for all of us to get along collectively.

But that doesn’t mean once you understand this, you shouldn’t see it and know it for what it is from the standpoint of logic: a load of garbage as a control mechanism for those who really can’t control themselves.

It certainly doesn’t apply to me.

Never has.

You know what you can kiss.
